Musk to lawmakers who approved the BBB: "They will lose the primaries, even if it's the last thing I do on this earth."

The influential magnate threatened Republican congressmen who backed Trump's tax bill known as Big Beautiful Bill (BBB), which is deemed irresponsible due to its increase in spending.

Elon Musk issued a stern warning on Monday to the Republican lawmakers who supported the ambitious tax plan pushed by President Donald Trump, which was approved in the United States Senate under the title "One Big Beautiful Bill," valued at $3.3 trillion.

"Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then voted for the largest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame," Musk wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter). "And they will lose the primaries next year, even if that's the last thing they do on this Earth," he added defiantly.

The fiscal mega-project, approved with the tie-breaking vote of Vice President JD Vance, was celebrated by Trump during an event in Florida. However, it has sparked a significant division within the Republican Party itself. While party leaders advocate for tax cuts and industrial incentives, conservative and moderate sectors question the negative impacts on Medicaid and employment.

Musk, who had already described the plan as "absolutely crazy and destructive," intensified his criticism by pointing out lawmakers who, despite their rhetoric of austerity, supported what he considers an irresponsible expansion of public spending. Analysts interpret the message as a direct threat to the congress members of the so-called "Freedom Caucus," as well as to moderate figures who facilitated the plan's approval.

A growing conflict between two giants

The clash between Musk and Trump has intensified in recent weeks. What began as a pragmatic relationship at the start of the president's second term has evolved into an open political conflict.

Trump, who sent him off with kind words during a press conference at the White House after deeming his mission at the helm of DOGE complete, has ended up accusing him of being "disloyal" and threatening to withdraw federal funds that his companies receive, even suggesting deportation.

The confrontations have been occurring since then. In June, Musk attacked Trump on multiple fronts. He publicly called for an impeachment against him, linked his name to the Epstein files, and suggested that the president was “out of control”.

Although Musk later tried to soften his tone, indicating that "it's not personal," tensions escalated again after the reappearance of the major fiscal project. Meanwhile, the entrepreneur has promoted the idea of a new political party alternative to traditional bipartisanship, which has been seen as a direct challenge to Republican leadership.

In a recent interview, Musk hinted that he might use his platform X and his business influence to support candidates who represent a "modern, technological, and ethical" vision of American politics. The exchange of attacks suggests that the rift between the two figures is already irreversible.
