The accident occurred around 10:45 in the morning on the stretch of Río Grande, between Marroquín and Majagua, when a state vehicle with license plate B-236623, belonging to the Hydraulic Resources Company, overturned while carrying several passengers.

The authorities confirmed the death of three people and the transfer of the injured to Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital.

The citizen response once again highlights the capacity for solidarity mobilization in the midst of emergencies, in the face of a healthcare system with limited resources and on a day marked by shock.

Solidarity, a trait present in Cubans despite the hardships they endure, comes to the forefront in cases of mass accidents. Following a tragic incident that occurred in January, on the bridge known as El Francés, on the road connecting Camagüey with Santa Cruz del Sur, social media was flooded with urgent calls to donate blood to the victims.

That same month, in Morón, people gathered en masse to donate blood following a serious traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals.

The accident occurred on the road connecting Morón to Turiguanó, in Ciego de Ávila. The collision involved two buses transporting workers from Cayería Norte, specifically from Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo. At that time, the report on casualties was imprecise: they confirmed six fatalities and 59 injuries.
