Willy Allen: "I am not going to vote for María Elvira (Salazar), I am supporting someone who will challenge her in the primaries."

The lawyer believes that the only Cuban American congressman who will be able to navigate the consequences of Trump's immigration policy is Mario Díaz-Balart. "He is a solid person."

It can be said louder, but not clearer. Immigration Lawyer Wilfredo Allen has stated on his weekly program that airs on Mondays at 11:00 AM (Miami time) on CiberCuba that he will not vote in the upcoming elections for the Republican congresswoman from his district, María Elvira Salazar. This is not the first time he has publicly opposed the political management of the former presenter, but now he claims he is supporting someone else who will challenge her in four years.

"I'm not going to vote for María Elvira (Salazar), I'm supporting someone who is going to challenge her in the primaries," he said, providing no further details about this candidacy, which, from what little has progressed, is currently being planned discreetly.

"I have already offered to help an opponent within the Republican Party. It’s not public yet, but once it is announced, I am supporting someone who will withdraw her," Allen responded to CiberCuba's direct question about whether he will vote for María Elvira Salazar in the upcoming elections.

In Allen's opinion, the only Cuban-American congressman who will be able to weather the consequences of Trump's immigration policy in Florida will be Mario Díaz-Balart because "he is a solid person," and due to that solidity, the lawyer rules out the possibility of a competitor emerging or that he risks not being reelected. Furthermore, he stated that if he were the representative of his district, he would vote for him without hesitation.

Another matter is the political future of Carlos Giménez and María Elvira Salazar, he hinted, without going into details, to avoid stepping into any troublesome waters. "Are you pulling the chain?" he joked in response to CiberCuba.

However, Willy Allen, who claims to have voted for more Republican presidents than Democrats, acknowledges that the support for the Trump Administration in Florida is "incredible," and this leads him to refrain from betting on a presumed Democratic victory in the state. "Who knows what will happen in four years? I don't even know if I will be alive in four years," he said.

Still, he believes he will live to see in 2026 "how the local politicians are different."

Willy Allen directly confronted María Elvira Salazar last February, calling the solution proposed by the congresswoman to regularize the I-220A an "insult," and publicly urged her "to stop talking nonsense."

I have publicly apologized for voting for her twice. María Elvira, who was my friend, what she is saying is a disrespect to any thinking person, it insults me," he said, visibly upset.

"There is no need to present any bill. The law already exists, and it is the Cuban Adjustment Act. That congresswoman (María Elvira Salazar) is mocking us when she says she is going to propose the law. She cannot propose anything. It is a lack of respect. She is just talking nonsense," the lawyer insisted.

"If she really wanted to do something, she would pressure her friend, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, to say that the Cuban Adjustment Act applies to the I-220 A Cubans because they were inspected and admitted," she stressed.

Now Allen is going further and will not only stop voting for María Elvira Salazar. He will also support the candidacy of another person from the Republican Party, whom he assumes will take her out of the political scene.
