A two-year-old boy passed away in the municipality of Camagüey following a series of alleged medical negligences that has sparked outrage in the community.

According to information obtained by journalist José Luis Tan Estrada from a Public Health source, the minor, who resides in the Finlay health area, was initially attended to in the local polyclinic by a resident doctor who was alone in the emergency room, in violation of the protocols that require the presence of a supervising specialist.

At the polyclinic, a formal referral to the pediatric hospital was not issued, which forced the parents to transport the child to the hospital on their own the next day.

In the hospital, however, no clinical tests were conducted nor was a precise diagnosis identified, and he was sent home again.

Hours later, the young boy experienced a vomiting episode with blood and died from complications related to hemorrhagic dengue, an illness that requires immediate and specialized medical attention.

A source from Public Health close to the case confirmed the deficiencies in the medical procedure, including the lack of qualified personnel at the primary care level and the omission of essential clinical examinations in the pediatric hospital.

The community demands a thorough investigation and accountability from the health authorities.

This case adds to the growing reports of deficiencies in the Cuban healthcare system, which is suffering from a shortage of resources, personnel, and oversight.

So far, the Ministry of Public Health has not issued an official statement regarding the death.

A series of incidents have been reported in the past year, raising concerns and public demands for transparency and restitution from the affected citizens.

In June, an 11-year-old boy died in Havana after a misdiagnosis of a viral condition delayed the proper treatment of a perforated appendicitis.

In Santiago de Cuba, a two-month-old baby died shortly after being vaccinated, in an incident where timely clinical studies and effective medical supervision were lacking.

Experts and medical analysts consulted by CiberCuba warn that these events reflect structural problems: a shortage of specialized personnel, a lack of equipment, and failures in medical supervision.

The shortcomings include superficial diagnoses, delays in urgent hospitalizations, and lack of post-discharge follow-up.
