A traffic accident that occurred this Tuesday in the municipality of Mayarí, Holguín, left seven people injured after a private truck overturned after leaving the roadway under wet pavement conditions.
Emilio Rodríguez Pupo informed on Facebook that the incident occurred after 2:30 PM, in the area between Arroyo Blanco and Los Coco, when a red pickup truck on the Holguín–Moa route lost control while attempting to re-enter the road.
According to preliminary reports from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), the driver allegedly attempted to regain traction on the wet pavement due to light rain, which led to skidding, overturning, and crashing into a tree.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, although the seven occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the Mártires de Mayarí hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.
The injured were identified as:
- Marcelo Delfín Sánchez, 54 years old, resident of Río Grande, Frank País municipality.
- Reynier Gilbert Hechevarría, 41 years old, from building 21, apartment 27, Miraflores neighborhood, Moa (in the process of being transferred to hospitals in Holguín).
- Maikel Galiano Ochoa, 46 years old, from the Pedro Díaz Coello neighborhood, Holguín.
- Roylan Rodríguez Pérez, 26 years old, residing in Naranjal, Mayarí.
- José Armando Tamayo Góngora, 30 years old, from Mayarí.
- Amauris Ricardo Gayardo, 46 years old, from Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Street, Mayarí.
- Ricardo Rigñack Rigñack, 72 years old, from the El Quemaito neighborhood, Frank País municipality.
The emergency medical service was immediately activated and the highest authorities of the territory were mobilized, who arrived at the municipal hospital to verify the care provided to the injured, highlighted Rodríguez.
So far, no details have been disclosed regarding the severity of the injuries or potential liabilities in the incident.
In the comments section, Dagmar Abad Noa emphasized that the injured were treated at the General Hospital Mártires in Mayarí, in addition to the transfer of one of the patients to the provincial capital.
"The others remain hospitalized under observation. A swift recovery," he emphasized.
