At least three people, one foreign tourist and two young individuals who were serving in the Military Service, died this weekend in a tragic traffic accident that occurred on the First Ring, near the Eastern Combined, in Havana.
According to reports shared on social media, the incident occurred when a Russian military jeep of the Wuat type, belonging to the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), lost control after apparently having a tire blow out.
The vehicle collided head-on with a Mercedes taxi that was transporting a tourist, who died at the scene due to the force of the impact.
The taxi driver, identified as "Titico," a resident of Varadero with over 20 years of experience, was transported in critical condition to the Naval Hospital in the capital, according to various reports on social media.
According to acquaintances of the taxi driver, the tourist was a regular customer who used to travel exclusively with that driver.
The military jeep was transporting several young recruits from the Active Military Service.
Two of them lost their lives: one was 19 years old and originally from Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba; while the other was from Camagüey.

The burial of the young man from Santiago took place on Monday, July 21, as reported by the internet user Alexander Ríos Cruz.
Although it is not confirmed, various reports indicate that three other young people were also traveling in the vehicle and are in serious condition.
So far, the nationality of the tourist who died in the serious incident has not been revealed, and there is little reliable information available on social media.
"Local authorities have confirmed that speeding was the main factor that caused the tragic accident that occurred yesterday near the 6 Vías, close to the site known as 'El Repollo' and near the access bridge to Combinado del Este, in Havana," as reported on social media by the portal CubaHerald.
The same source stated that "according to sources close to the investigation, one of the drivers was traveling at a speed higher than allowed in that area, which may have complicated evasive maneuvers and caused the head-on collision."
Images shared on social media have shown not only the shocking condition of both vehicles but also a significant military presence in the area of the incident.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media due to the use of state vehicles in poor conditions and the lack of transparency in cases involving military personnel.
In addition, numerous internet users have emphasized the need to ensure safe conditions for young people serving in the FAR.
