The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) issued an alert on Thursday following the disappearance of "Angelina," a Hispanic baby only seven months old, who was last seen when she was just one week old.

According to the official statement from the FDLE, authorities believe that Angelina may be with Samantha Feliz, 19, and Alejandro León Jr., 20.

Both have been described as possibly homeless individuals and are known in the community as The Scooter People, as they tend to get around on electric scooters.

The official source indicated that the minor was last seen in the area of 3000 Sheridan Street in the city of Hollywood, in Broward County, although it did not specify when.

"Due to an ongoing investigation, this case has been updated to a missing child alert. If you see her, DO NOT APPROACH. Contact the police immediately," warned the FDLE, which did not clarify the relationship of the minor to the two individuals mentioned.

The case comes to light due to a concerned relative

According to information revealed by the Miami Herald, Angelina's case remained in the shadows for months until a concerned family member recently approached the Hollywood Police Department.

This person, whose identity has not been revealed, expressed concern about not having heard from the baby since December 16, 2024.

"The relative states that the baby’s mother made disturbing statements," the Hollywood police noted, without specifying the content of those statements.

Following the report, the detectives initiated an investigation that culminated in the official alert being activated by the FDLE.

The police confirmed that Angelina was only 10 days old when she was last seen, indicating that she has been missing for more than seven months.

Who are the sought-after individuals?

The alert has been issued as part of an ongoing investigation, and authorities have refrained from providing details about the formal relationship between the adults and the minor. The Herald specified that they would be the minor's parents.

The physical descriptions provided by the authorities are as follows:

Samantha Feliz: 19 years old, 1.65 meters (5’5”) tall, 50 kg (110 pounds) in weight, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Alejandro León Jr.: 20 years old, 1.65 meters (5'5") tall, 82 kg (180 pounds) in weight, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Recommendations from the authorities

The reason why the disappearance was not reported formally until now, more than seven months after the last sighting, is unknown.
