Controversy over a party of Cubans after midnight in an apartment in the U.S.

It is not clear which U.S. city it occurred in.

A party organized by a group of Cubans in a residential building in the United States has sparked controversy on social media after the Instagram profile Cubanerísimo shared a video reporting on the noise and behavior of the participants.

According to the publication, the meeting extended past midnight, with loud music and no consideration for the neighbors.

A meeting that sparked criticism

In the video, recorded from another angle of the building, at least six people can be seen gathered in the second-floor hallway, talking loudly around a turned-on speaker.

Although for some it was simply a celebration among compatriots, others considered it a disrespect to the country's standards of coexistence.

The account that shared the content pointed out that those involved “act as if they are still in Cuba,” referring to the custom of throwing parties in common spaces without time restrictions, something that is regulated by law in many neighborhoods in the United States.

Divided comments between support and rejection

The post sparked an intense discussion among users. Some defended the party as an expression of Cuban culture; others, on the other hand, reminded that living in the United States means adapting to different rules.

“No matter how much they say that being Cuban makes us all the same, that's not true at all. This is not Cuba; here there are laws and rules to be respected,” said a commenter.

Another person recalled that, in several states, noise laws are not limited to specific hours but prohibit excessive sound at any time of day, as many people work at night and rest during the day.

A proposal that sparked the debate even more

One of the most controversial comments was from those who suggested that, instead of calling the local police to report the noise, neighbors could contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This idea was widely rejected as it was deemed a disproportionate reaction and a way to criminalize a common neighborhood conflict.

Several users recalled that such situations should be handled by local authorities, through formal channels like the police or the building management, and not by involving immigration agencies.

Coexistence and cultural identity: The challenge of balance

Beyond the incident, the discussion reflects a recurring theme among migrant communities: how to keep traditions alive without clashing with the norms of the new environment.

Social gatherings, music, and a sense of community are fundamental parts of Cuban culture, but living in a country with different rules, many find it necessary to strike a balance.

For many, mutual respect is the key. Celebrations can take place and Caribbean joy can be maintained, but one must not neglect coexistence or overlook the rules of the place where one lives.
