Chocolate MC in solitary confinement in prison: This would be the worrying reason for his detention

The Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvanis Arismin Sierra Hernández, professionally known as Chocolate MC, is currently held in a punishment cell in the TGK jail, in Miami-Dade, following an alleged suicide attempt.

"And every day is a blow... they deny him food, they keep him in that hole," concluded the young woman, who did not specify whether Chocolate would be receiving any kind of psychological help in prison.

Mental health history and statements from prison

In a phone interview granted to Univision by Chocolate a few weeks ago, Chocolate MC himself admitted to having suffered from two chronic mental illnesses since childhood, and he also specified that he had been admitted to a psychiatric clinic in his youth.

However, the communicator assured that during the conversation, the artist appeared remarkably lucid and eloquent, in contrast to his usual behavior outside of prison.

"We realized when interviewing him that he is practically a different person. Being in prison, without access to drugs, he became a loquacious man and was able to answer all our questions, something that was virtually impossible before," he noted.

Concern for their integrity

“They are beating him, they have him isolated, they are denying him food… he tried to commit suicide,” Ramírez reiterated.

Almost two months in prison

The reggaeton artist has been incarcerated for nearly two months. He was arrested on June 2, after kidnapping and threatening a fan with a firearm, who was at the mercy of the reggaeton artist for several hours.

On June 5, Chocolate appeared before Judge Mindy S. Glazer in Miami, who determined that he would not be granted bail for violating the conditions of a previous release.

In the hearing, Yosvanis Arismin Sierra Hernández denied before the judge that he is “crazy,” and asserted that he feels “safer in jail.”

"Someone on the street is paying to have me killed like they killed El Taiger," he also said. "I don't want a lawyer; even my lawyer is borrowed. They are trying to sell me as if I'm crazy," he asserted.

Chocolate MC faces charges of kidnapping and armed robbery, although the gun he used in the incident was fake.

The case adds to a legal history that includes accusations of domestic violence, drug possession, and alleged conspiracy to murder the supposed killer of El Taiger.

This is the fifth case opened in court in Florida for Chocolate and the ninth arrest in eight years.
