The Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvanis Sierra, known as Chocolate MC, broke his silence from the Miami-Dade jail, where he has been detained since early June, and stated that he fears for his life.
In an exclusive interview with Univisión 23, the controversial singer reported that there are individuals offering up to $25,000 to have him killed, and he directly implicated acquaintances from his urban surroundings.
"They are offering $25,000 for someone to shoot me," said Chocolate from the TGK penitentiary, where he also shares facilities with Damián Valdés Galloso, the alleged murderer of the also reggaeton artist El Taiger, who was shot dead last October in Miami.
The artist is currently being held at the Metro West Detention Center, the largest detention center in the county, facing charges that include armed kidnapping and aggravated assault, related to an incident that occurred on June 2.
According to court documents, on that occasion he allegedly threatened and held a fan, although he claims that the weapon used was actually a lighter shaped like a gun.
"It was a lighter shaped like a gun. I was coming along crying, smoking a cigar, when I saw a car behind me and someone filming me... What was I supposed to think, knowing there are people paying to have me killed?" declared the reggaeton artist to journalist Mario Vallejo.
Among those involved, he mentioned the singer 6ix9ine and urban figures like "El Bolo," Dani Ome, and his manager Magdiel, whom he accuses of offering money for his location, a situation he notes is similar to what happened with El Taiger before his murder.
Trauma After El Taiger's Death
Chocolate MC expressed that the death of El Taiger deeply affected him. "I saw myself in him; it could have happened to me. I was crying, looking up at the sky and screaming: 'Why didn't they kill me instead?'," he confessed.
He said he was traumatized by the crime video, especially seeing his colleague on the floor while Valdés Galloso dragged him "like a sack of garbage."
In his account, he denied having had prior contact with Valdés Galloso and claims that the first time he saw him was in prison, where he assures he spat at him upon seeing him.
"I am happy because I have God in my heart."
This is not the first time the reggaeton artist has claimed that his enemies want to kill him.
In June, during the courtroom hearing in Miami-Dade, he insisted before Judge Mindy Glazer that the threats to his life are real.
"Let me stay in prison here. I feel safer inside than outside (...) They raised some money to put a bullet in El Taiger's head, José Manuel Carbajal, just like they are trying to do with me. They gathered money to kill me, to shut me up," he emphasized then.
Yosvanis Sierra admitted that he has been using drugs since he was 16 years old.
Despite everything, he emphasizes that he is trying to refocus his life: "I am happy because I have God in my heart," he said, and sent a message to his followers. "Now I believe they will see good results from me, because I have accepted God."
The reggaeton artist has an extensive legal record in Florida. This is his ninth arrest in eight years and the fifth open case in state court.
He has faced previous accusations of domestic violence, drug possession, and now, according to judicial sources, for alleged conspiracy to murder the suspected killer of El Taiger.
