A knife fight that took place in front of the Barca de Oro park, in the José Martí district of Santiago de Cuba, resulted in two injuries and caused great shock among local residents.
According to information transmitted by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta, the incident occurred outside a cell phone repair shop, when Yasmani Ojeda Cobas demanded that Yorkis Leer Ruiz, known as “Chiquitico” or “El Menor,” return 4,000 pesos for the purchase of a supposedly stolen phone plate.
The team was blocked, and although Chiquitico promised to change it, he later refused to return the money.

The argument escalated to blows and, according to witnesses, Chiquitico struck again at Yasmani, who grabbed a knife from a nearby table and wounded him in the chest and arm.
Ojeda, for his part, suffered an injury to his right leg and a dislocated arm, and was transferred to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital, where he received medical attention without any danger to his life.
Another version indicates that the altercation began when Chiquitico slapped Yasmani after an attempt at dialogue. Neighbors present, including a man known as "Pipo," assisted the injured until medical help arrived.
The owner of the cellphone workshop confirmed in the comments section that the incident has no connection to the service he provides in his business and was unaware of the altercation among those involved.
The community remains shocked by the event and is awaiting official information regarding the health status of those involved and any potential legal consequences.
Residents lamented that the lack of a peaceful solution led to an episode of violence that could have had a fatal outcome.
This episode adds to a wave of violence that is affecting Santiago de Cuba in recent weeks, resulting in several fatalities and serious injuries in various neighborhoods.
Among the recent events, there was a street party in the Reparto Vista Hermosa that ended in tragedy. There, two young men with longstanding grievances crossed paths, and one of them decided to "settle scores," leading to the tragic incident.
As outrage grows on social media and in the streets, many are asking how many more lives must be lost before effective measures are taken to curb the escalating violence.
