This murder adds to a series of recent violent events that have shaken several provinces of the country.

Last Monday, two men were arrested in connection with the murder of Mailenis Blanco Amor, a 47-year-old woman who was killed on August 4 in her home in the town of Puerta de Golpe, Pinar del Río, during a robbery.

Some of the stolen meat was slaughtered in local culinary facilities before the case was resolved in less than 24 hours, claims MININT.

At the end of July, the municipality of Songo La Maya was the scene of another crime that shook the community of El Manguito: the farmer Raumelis Victorero Rivera, a father of two girls, was brutally murdered with machetes in what his family describes as a personal vendetta.
