The singer, vocalist, and musician Zulema Iglesias Salazar has been chosen to represent Cuba in the International Music Contest "Intervision 2025", which will take place on September 20 at the Live Arena in Moscow, Russia.

According to a report from Cubadebate, Iglesias will compete with the song Guaguancó, which she composed, under the musical production of the Argentine Rodrigo Sosa, winner of the Gran Premio Cubadisco 2025, and with arrangements by Sosa and the Cuban Ángel Toirac.

The news portal emphasized that the work combines Cuban musical traditions with biographical elements of the artist, highlighting her vocal strength and cultural roots.

In statements to Sputnik, the Santiago interpreter mentioned that this is her first trip to Russia and that she feels a great pride in being the chosen one.

"I have two original pieces: the bolero Poco a poco and Guaguancó con jazz. Let's choose which one better symbolizes Cuban identity and can defend our roots," he stated.

Iglesias added that music "has no language" and that he trusts the international audience will understand his message from the heart.

Intervisión 2025 will gather artists from more than 20 countries, including members of the BRICS and nations from Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The winner will be chosen by an international jury of music experts.

Originally from Santiago de Cuba, Iglesias is part of the catalogs of the Music and Entertainment Marketing Company "Miguel Matamoros" and Musicuba, under EGREM.
