On a calm note, this Monday began with the three reference currencies in the informal Cuban market.
The dollar, the euro, and the freely convertible currency (MLC) have recorded their fourth consecutive day without any price changes, according to the daily report from elTOQUE, which documents the fluctuations of the three currencies.
At 7:00 a.m. on this 25th of August, the dollar remains valued at 405 CUP and the euro at 450.
In the case of the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), it currently holds at 195 CUP to which arrived last Friday, after having dropped by five pesos suddenly.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Exchange Rate in Cuba
What is the current exchange rate of the dollar in the Cuban informal market?
The exchange rate of the United States dollar (USD) in the Cuban informal market is 405 CUP. This rate has remained stable for several days, according to the daily monitoring of elTOQUE. However, the weakness of the Cuban peso continues to be a constant concern for the population.
What is the exchange rate of the euro in Cuba?
The euro is trading at 450 CUP in the Cuban informal market. Like the dollar, its value has remained stable for several days, although previous fluctuations indicate an upward trend. This stability has not improved the purchasing power of Cubans, which continues to decline.
What is the value of the Free Convertible Currency (MLC) in the Cuban informal market?
The freely convertible currency (MLC) is valued at 195 CUP. This amount is the result of a recent drop of five pesos, which highlights its increasing weakness in the Cuban informal market, a reflection of the poor condition of the national economy.
Has the Cuban government fulfilled its promises of currency reform?
As of now, the Cuban government has not finalized the promised currency reforms. Announced by Manuel Marrero for the second half of 2025, these reforms have yet to materialize, leaving the population in a state of uncertainty and contributing to the increasing economic inequality.
