At least one person died and three others were hospitalized early Saturday morning following a serious accident on Interstate 75 in western Broward, Florida.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue (BSFR), the incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. at Mile Marker 49, when a Florida Department of Transportation truck was struck by a pickup truck towing a boat.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) later explained that the pickup truck carrying a boat on a trailer was heading south on I-75 at mile marker 49.
In the same section, another vehicle was carrying out painting work on the division lines in the road and on the right shoulder, accompanied at low speed by a traffic protection truck (Scorpion Road Construction Crash Truck).
The vehicle carrying the boat failed to reduce speed or yield to the vehicles moving slowly on the shoulder, and struck the rear of the roadside protection truck.
As a result of the collision, the latter crashed into the rear of the vehicle that was painting the lines, detailed the FHP.
The driver of the road protection truck became trapped and had to be rescued by rescuers, reported the channel NBC Miami.
He was later transferred by helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries, where he eventually passed away.
Inside the truck were three people. One of them was airlifted by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, while the other two were transported by ambulance to a medical center.
