The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a video on Thursday showing the escape of the alleged perpetrator of the murder of Charlie Kirk, which took place on September 10 during a public event on the campus of Utah Valley University in the city of Orem, Utah.

The images captured by the university's surveillance cameras show the suspect jumping from the roof of a building and fleeing on foot from the scene, minutes after the gunshot that ended the life of the 31-year-old young activist.

The video was posted by the FBI on its official site, on its YouTube channel, and on its account on the social network X (formerly Twitter), where it has surpassed 4 million views. In the official statement, the FBI office in Salt Lake City reported: “The FBI releases the video of the shooter who killed Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. After the shooting, the individual jumps from the roof and flees the scene,” the federal agency stated.

According to authorities, the attacker left several forensic pieces of evidence at the crime scene: shoe prints, a forearm mark, and a palm print. Additionally, the FBI indicated that the weapon and ammunition used were found in a wooded area near the campus.

In a previous post, the FBI had shared detailed photographs of the suspect, whom they identified as a person of interest in the investigation. The images show the individual wearing a black hoodie with an American flag on the chest, blue jeans, and a black backpack.

"We published additional photos of a person of interest. Information regarding this ongoing investigation is available at fbi.gov/news/press-rel," the agency added.

So far, the attacker has not been identified or arrested. The FBI has reiterated its call to the public to share any relevant information through the hotline 1-800-CALL-FBI or the portal fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting. The agency has also offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to their identification and arrest.

Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA and one of the most influential figures in the youth movement aligned with President Donald Trump, was murdered while giving a lecture as part of his American Comeback Tour.

The shot that ended his life came, according to initial reports, from a building located about 200 meters from the spot where he was speaking in front of dozens of students. The projectile struck him in the neck and caused his death shortly thereafter.

The crime was initially confirmed by Trump himself on his Truth Social network, where he wrote: “The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk has died. Nobody understood or had the heart of the youth in America better than Charlie. I love you, brother.”

Hours later, the president delivered a speech from the White House in which he referred to Kirk as "a martyr for truth and freedom" and directly blamed what he called "the radical left" for fostering a climate of hatred that, in his view, led to the activist's murder. Additionally, he ordered that all flags in the country be flown at half-mast until Sunday at 6:00 p.m. as an official tribute.

The assassination of Kirk triggered a wave of reactions nationwide. Various political figures from both parties condemned the crime and expressed their condolences to the activist's family, who leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Former President Barack Obama stated, “We still do not know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.” Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush also spoke out, along with Joe Biden himself, who expressed: “There is no place in our country for this type of violence. It must end now.”

The case has once again brought to the forefront the debate over access to firearms in the United States. Kirk had been a fervent advocate for the Second Amendment and had publicly stated that "it's worth paying the cost of some gun deaths each year to preserve the right to bear arms." Following his assassination, that phrase has been widely shared on social media, both by supporters and critics, some of whom have questioned the irony of his death at the hands of the same violence he defended as the "price of freedom."

In addition to the political debate, the university community has expressed concern about the failures in the event's security protocols, while uncertainty remains regarding the identity of the shooter, whose motives have also not been clarified by the authorities.
