The multi-record holder from Cuba Johen Lefont amazed once again this Saturday at the Varadero beach resort in Matanzas by balancing a soccer ball on his head for five minutes, while performing leg exercises and without using his hands in the pool.

The unprecedented demonstration was part of the Saturday program of the IV Gran Retto 2025 Open Water Crossing, where the audience enthusiastically celebrated every moment of an event that combined physical endurance and mental control.

A brand that was born from a challenge

“We had the idea of doing three minutes and, if the body responded, continuing, because every second in the water is a battle against gravity, but also a celebration of the body and the mind,” Lefont declared to JIT, accompanied by family, friends, and competitors from the mixed relay festival.

Ex-water polo player, Lefont has made this discipline his personal trademark. His ability to balance the ball without manual support, while floating on water, has established him as an international reference in extreme endurance tests.

According to the mentioned source, this Sunday will attempt a new feat in open water: to hold the ball above his head for as long as possible, combining synchronized movements of arms and legs, a discipline even more demanding that promises to be another highlight of the event.

A trajectory of feats

In the previous edition of the Gran Retto (2024), Lefont covered more than 750 meters in the sea with the ball on his head, surpassing his previous record of 600 meters.

With 11 official Guinness records and over a dozen successful attempts yet to be certified, the athlete from Matanzas continues to expand his legacy as one of the most unique athletes in Cuban sports.
