The Cuban presenter Carlos Otero once again captured the attention of his followers on social media after posting a picture of himself armed next to a luxurious Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, referencing the recent enactment of the law allowing open carry of firearms in Florida.

"Open Carry...", Otero wrote on his Instagram account (@carlosoterotv), accompanied by hashtags like #guns, #beretta9mm, #winchester, and #florida, while posing with dark glasses, a cap, a holstered pistol at his waist, and a shotgun in his hands.

The image was published following the recent confirmation that open carry of firearms is now legal in the state, after a ruling from the First District Court of Appeals of Florida. This measure has sparked debate in the political sphere and among public safety experts.

Otero's post did not go unnoticed. While some followers congratulated him for “exercising his constitutional right,” others expressed concern about the message that the image might convey, especially in times of increasing armed violence in the country.

The host, who has been living in Miami since 2007 and currently leads the TN3 program on AméricaTeVe, often sparks conversation with his posts on social media. This time, he did so by combining luxury, weapons, and a nod to the new state legislation.

Carlos Otero has not commented further on the image, but his post is part of an intense debate taking place on social media following the court ruling.

According to the specialized site Ammo, more than a third of Florida's population (35%) owns a firearm. Legislators and law enforcement agencies will need to adjust their protocols in a context where the public display of firearms, previously prohibited, is now protected by law.
