The popular Cuban musician Cándido Fabré publicly denounced on his social media the alleged arbitrary detention of his colleague Ramiro Arzuaga, known in his group as "El Moro" or "El Indio."
Fabré asserted that his friend Arzuaga has been imprisoned without charges for over seven months in the San José prison, located in the province of Mayabeque.
In a message posted on his Facebook profile, the Cuban singer and orchestra conductor expressed his anguish and called for justice.
"I pray to God for the health of all the sick and for the freedom of my colleague Ramiro Arzuaga, imprisoned without any crime. There, in all the records, he is clean," Fabré stated.
The artist, known for his improvisational style and his background in Cuban popular music, added that Arzuaga's son is "orphaned" and is waiting for his father, just like his colleagues.
"I demand a review and your freedom. Why so much delay? Who benefits from such injustice?" the musician wrote, visibly outraged.
The case has raised concern among followers and colleagues, who believe it is a new example of repression and impunity in the Cuban judicial system.
