Longest game of the 2025 World Series lasts over six hours: Here's how the score ended

Game 3 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays tied the historic record for the most innings played in a World Series, going 18 innings and lasting over six hours of action, making it the longest game of this edition.

In a marathon game that tested the endurance of both players and fans, the Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays 6-5 after 6 hours and 39 minutes of play and a total of 609 pitches.

The marathon duel, held at Dodger Stadium, matched the record for the most innings in a World Series—also set by the Dodgers in 2018—and made it clear that baseball can still deliver epic nights, ones that are etched in the memory of fans.

The meeting, held on the night of Monday, October 27, will go down in history not only for its duration—609 total pitches—but also for the intensity with which both teams contested every play.

The Dodgers used their entire bullpen, including veteran Clayton Kershaw, who came in during the twelfth inning to get an out with the bases loaded, and young Will Klein, who earned the victory after pitching four nearly perfect innings.

By the Tiles, the Mexican Alejandro Kirk starred in a key moment with a three-run home run in the fourth inning, which put his team ahead 4-2, according to Los Angeles Times.

However, the Angels' offense responded with timely hits from Shohei Ohtani, who had a stellar night (4-4 with five walks), and Freddie Freeman, who tied the game in the fifth inning before sealing it in the 18th episode.

The encounter inevitably recalled Game 3 of the 2018 World Series, when the Dodgers also triumphed over the Boston Red Sox in 18 innings, although that time the duel lasted seven hours and twenty minutes.

With this victory, Los Angeles takes a 2-1 lead in the series and prepares for Game 4, where Ohtani will face Shane Bieber on the mound. If this historic matchup made anything clear, it's that the Dodgers not only have power but also resilience and heart to continue writing legendary chapters in October.
