Cuban comedian Cuqui La Mora has again spoken out emphatically on social media about the critical situation in Cuba. In a post on her Instagram account, the artist shared a strong message holding communism accountable for the deterioration of living conditions on the island.
The virus is not bad luck; it is communism that has plunged an entire country into unsanitary conditions and a lack of hygiene. The death of so many Cubans due to a lack of medical attention and medications is not bad luck; it is communism, which has never cared for the people or spent a dollar to fix and supply hospitals with medications," the artist stated.
“The only misfortune that has befallen us Cubans is called COMMUNISM. Down with the dictatorship”, Cuqui emphasized, receiving hundreds of supportive comments from Cubans both inside and outside the country.
The comedian's statements come at a particularly critical time for the island, which is facing a serious health crisis characterized by a shortage of hospital supplies, a rise in respiratory illnesses, and a lack of basic resources in health centers.
This situation is compounded by the imminent arrival of Hurricane Melissa, which according to weather forecasts is expected to strike the eastern part of the country with great force, plunging the nation into even more misfortune than it already faces. This meteorological event is anticipated to potentially become a natural disaster of significant magnitude, particularly in provinces where the infrastructure is already severely compromised.
Cuqui La Mora's post is part of a growing wave of denunciations from artists, public figures, and Cubans in general, who are using their digital platforms to highlight the crisis on the island and demand political change.
