After the passage of Hurricane Melissa and the heartbreaking images coming from eastern Cuba, many Cubans both on the island and abroad have mobilized to contribute their bit of help. From Miami, recognized figures from the music and social media world such as tiktoker Bryansito, singer Zurdo, urban artist Wow Popy, and repairman Bebeshito joined a solidarity initiative and delivered donations intended for the families most affected by the devastating cyclone.

The images, shared by the artists themselves and by the account La Familia Cubana, show the young people loading boxes and donations into a truck, amidst effort, smiles, and emotion. The artists gathered food, water, and basic necessities for families who have lost everything, in a gesture that has deeply moved their supporters.

“Our people need us, no matter which country you are from... we need that support,” expressed the tiktoker Bryansito in the post that accompanied the solidarity event, encouraging his followers to join in. His words reflect the spirit of empathy and commitment that characterized this initiative. For his part, Wow Popy arrived with bags full of products to help the people from eastern Cuba, where he also has family.

Hurricane Melissa caused severe damage in the eastern region of the country, with homes destroyed and communities completely isolated. In the midst of this situation, the actions of these young creators from Miami have become an inspiration for other Cubans. Bebeshito, accompanied by his wife Rachel, also delivered food and essential items. Rachel shared that she managed to relocate her family before the hurricane hit, but her grandfather’s house suffered damage and was flooded.

Social media was filled with messages of admiration and gratitude toward the artists. "Thank you for thinking of us," "This is how Cuba is represented," and "The example that many should follow" were some of the most commonly repeated comments.
