The content creator @elchefmaifreends has taken TikTok by storm with a video that has surpassed five million views, asserting that “we have always made coffee wrong.”
Her recipe, far from the Cuban tradition, has left many speechless, but what garnered the most comments wasn't the coffee, but the influencer's kitchen, as everyone wanted a tutorial on how to clean it.
In the video, the TikToker uses a moka pot, or Italian coffee maker, but completely changes the method we all know. First, he boils the water directly in the lower chamber and adds sugar before placing the filter.
Then, instead of filling the coffee filter as is customary, he puts only two tablespoons in. After closing the coffee maker, he lets the liquid rise and obtain a smooth, light tone.
The result, according to him, is a perfect American coffee. It has nothing to do with Cuban coffee: strong, short, and bitter, as is preferred on the island.
To make the coffee completely opposite to what we know and enjoy, this TikTok chef came up with the idea of not serving it in a small cup. He pours it freshly made into a crystal glass, as if it were a liquor.
