A tragic accident that occurred on the Havana Malecón, near the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, led to the death of Joel Milera Barceló, popularly known as "El Miller," a Cuban highly regarded in the capital for his skill in repairing electric motorcycle batteries.
The incident occurred when Milera was riding her motorcycle down the busy avenue and, for reasons that have yet to be clarified, lost control of the vehicle and suffered a severe impact.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred just a few meters from the Ameijeiras hospital stop, which caused shock among the people present at the scene.
Social media users, especially in the group Facebook Accidents of Buses and Trucks, confirmed the tragic news and expressed their condolences.
The page of Facebook Taller Miller, related to the work of the deceased, published a message confirming his death and highlighting that his body was transferred to the Calixto García Hospital in Havana.
“The battery doctor,” as many of his clients and friends called him, was regarded as one of the most experienced in the repair and maintenance of electric motorcycle batteries in Cuba, a sector that has grown in recent years due to the transportation crisis on the island.
Neighbors and colleagues deeply mourned his passing, remembering him as a hardworking and helpful man who assisted many drivers in keeping their equipment running despite the challenges of obtaining spare parts in the country.
Her loss leaves a void among electric motorcycle enthusiasts and the community of independent mechanics in Havana.
