With palpable emotion, a young couple from Cuba celebrated on TikTok the third anniversary of their arrival in the United States. In the video shared by the user @isra_tamayo, they both reminisced about the difficult journey they undertook in 2022 with their little son who was just one year old, in search of freedom and a better life.

“Today marks three years since we arrived in this country. The journey of 2022 that many of us experienced. We started a new life,” they shared with emotion. The couple explained that before leaving Cuba, they sold what little they had to afford the tickets and embark on an adventure full of uncertainty. “We left just the three of us, with our child in our arms, and went through very tough moments that we wouldn’t wish on anyone,” they recalled.

With faith and gratitude, they ensured that they look back with relief and pride. "These were days that are impossible to forget, filled with worry and uncertainty, but thanks to God everything turned out well. In this short time, we have achieved a lot and feel very blessed," they said, as they displayed family photos and smiles that reflect the effort of starting from scratch.

The video, posted from Texas, was filled with messages of support and empathy from other Cubans who had similar experiences. “Only those of us who went through that know how hard it was,” wrote one user. “It’s the story of many, blessings to you,” commented another. Hundreds of people also shared their own arrival dates and words of encouragement for the couple.

With a message of hope, the protagonists encouraged those who are still facing the migration journey. “Don’t give up. Every time it rains, it clears up. Problems arise, but what matters is having the will to confront them. We came to this country to fight for our dreams”, they stated, concluding with a smile that symbolizes the triumph of love, faith, and perseverance.
