The Nito Ortega Popular Council, popularly known as "Nuevo Palma," is made up of five urban communities, one semi-urban community, and two rural communities, with the main one sharing the same name as the Council.

In recent days, its residents have suffered severe impacts due to Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall on the morning of October 29 as a Category 3 storm, leaving destroyed homes, flooded streets, and extensive material damage.

The donation from Orama was made independently, without the involvement of local authorities, and allowed dozens of families to meet their basic needs amidst the emergency.

In a context of economic crisis and widespread shortages in Cuba, gestures like those of this Cuban reinforce the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among those living inside and outside the island.
