The lifeless body of a fisherman was found this Monday in the vicinity of the mouth of the Bacunayagua River, following several days of intensive search efforts by firefighters, rescuers, and local fishermen.

The victim, identified as Ariel Alejandro Delgado, had been reported missing after venturing into the area known as "Risco Alto," where he was engaged in artisanal fishing, according to a revelation on Facebook by the official account Con Todos la Victoria.

The discovery took place about 500 meters from the mouth of the Bacunayagua River, in an area known as Puerto Escondido

It was precisely fishermen from the area who found the body, bringing an end to an agonizing search that kept family members, friends, and neighbors from the coastal community on edge.

The facts: a disappearance that moved the entire community

The alarm was raised when a man reported missing was last seen fishing in the rocky area of “Risco Alto.” His motorcycle, mobile phone, and other personal belongings were found at the site.

A joint search operation was immediately launched along the coastline, led by a technical unit of firefighters, specialized rescue and salvage personnel, as well as experienced fishermen familiar with the marine geography of the area.

The tragic outcome came hours later, when the body of Ariel Alejandro Delgado was found.

Delgado, according to the aforementioned official source, resided in Santa Cruz del Norte.

However, several comments from people close to the fisherman indicate that he lived in the province of Matanzas, specifically near Vía Blanca, just a few kilometers from Rincón Moderno.

One of the deceased's friends, Madelay Hernández, expressed on social media:

"He will always be in our hearts, but the note mentions that he is from Santa Cruz del Norte. That is not true, because he is from Matanzas and resides a few kilometers from Bacunayagua. To provide information, one must first verify the facts and not write a statement that includes things that are not true."

An irreparable loss: Messages of mourning and recognition of his legacy

The shock over Ariel's loss has been palpable on social media, where dozens of people have expressed their sorrow and respect for the man who, apparently, was very much loved by those who knew him as a fisherman, friend, father, and companion.

"My brother, you will always be in our hearts. How we will miss you, cojine. You were and will be a friend, a father, a brother to all who knew you. You will soar high like the champion you were, and those fishermen who fished alongside you will miss you every time they are on the cliff or the boards, because you were an example to everyone," commented a friend.

The officialist profile Con Todos la Victoria, which reported the incident, concluded its note with a strong call: “In the face of crime, illegal activities, and social indiscipline, ZERO TOLERANCE!”

Although no direct signs of illegality have been reported in this case, the message may be related to the growing concern about security conditions in unregulated or hard-to-access fishing areas, where many citizens engage in fishing out of necessity or as a source of economic support amid the crisis.

As of the closing of this note, there are no additional details about what happened.
