The Ministry of Transport announced this Sunday that starting tomorrow it will begin selling tickets for all National Bus routes.
Additionally, all programming for the maritime service covering the Nueva Gerona-Havana and Havana-Gerona routes, as well as the Havana-Holguín train route, was reported on Facebook by the minister of the sector, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila.
The sales channels are traditional: the APK Viajando and the booking agencies, the latter starting at 8:30 a.m., the information specifies.
However, the national routes of the railway transportation services to other destinations in the eastern part of the country will not be promoted "due to the impacts caused by Hurricane Melissa on the tracks and railway infrastructure," he added.
The normal 30-day advance sales cycle will be reinstated starting Tuesday, December 9, they assured.
On Saturday, the Unión de Ferrocarriles de Cuba (UFC) announced the cancellation of almost all national passenger trains due to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Melissa to the railway infrastructure in the eastern part of the country.
Only the Havana–Holguín route will be maintained, which will continue to operate every four days, while the other connections will remain suspended until further notice.
According to the official statement, the cyclone caused severe damage to the railway lines in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguín, and Guantánamo, where specialized crews are working to restore the most affected sections.
The restoration of the service will be carried out progressively, first to Santiago de Cuba and then to Guantánamo, as technical conditions allow.
"Travelers with reservations for canceled trains who no longer wish to travel will receive a refund of 100% of the ticket value, a process that can be completed up to 15 days after the service is restored," the entity stated in its announcement published on Facebook.
