The Cuban reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo surprised everyone this Thursday by posting an emotional message on his Instagram stories dedicated to Yosvanis Sierra Hernández (Chocolate MC), after it became known that a jury found him guilty of the charge of “writing or publishing direct threats” against Damián Valdez Galloso, who is accused of the murder of "El Tiger".
Despite the long rivalry and the public confrontations that both artists have had over the years, Yomil decided to put aside their disputes and show empathy towards his colleague, who is facing a potential severe sentence.
“Damn, Yosva, I swear on the greatest things that I hold no resentment towards you; on the contrary, I’ve learned to forgive, because I know that right now life has just given you the lesson you were looking for on your own,” the musician wrote.
In his message, Yomil expressed his conviction that this tough experience will bring about positive change in Chocolate MC's life, but he also called for justice and mercy.
"I feel that now you are really going to change for the better, out of true obligation. A lesson was wanted for you, but not for it to be done to you in such a cruel way. You don't deserve the punishment you are receiving," she expressed.
The artist also referenced faith and his desire to see Yosvani resume his career, without a life sentence.
"I know that your life is in the hands of a judge, but more so in God's. Never lose faith; you can get through anything. You deserve to be on the scene with your faults and flaws, but I wanted you on the scene, my friend, not for life," he concluded, along with a message featuring the hashtag #FreeYosvani and a prayer.
Yomil's words have surprised his followers, who highlight the artist's gesture of maturity and humanity after years of confrontations with Chocolate MC.

The message has been interpreted by many as a call for reconciliation within the Cuban urban genre, where personal rivalries and conflicts on social media have been common in recent years.

Another figure who attended the trial was La Diosa, who was present in the courtroom as a witness and publicly expressed her frustration at not being able to testify freely. After the hearing, the singer released a tearful video, in which she defended Chocolate MC and called for understanding of her situation.
"I am frustrated because they practically didn't let me speak. I had so much to tell the judge about a man who has spent his life addicted to drugs since he was 16... Yosvani is not a murderer, he is a sick person who needs help," she said, clearly affected.
The interpreter pleaded for mercy and justice, asserting that the artist "does not deserve a life sentence" and reminding that "he needs treatment, not punishment."
In this way, both Yomil and La Diosa have shown their more humane and empathetic sides, putting aside old differences and coming together with a shared sentiment: the desire for Chocolate MC to receive a second chance.
