Cuban content creator Lianet Pérez Pérez (@liapp960919) shared in a video her recent experience after contracting chikungunya, a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the same one that spreads dengue and zika.
Pérez recounted that the first three days were the most difficult, featuring a fever of up to 39 degrees, severe joint pain, and the appearance of a skin rash, which are characteristic symptoms of the illness.
She explained that her recovery process was based on staying well-hydrated, taking paracetamol every six hours to control the fever and pain, and later antihistamines to relieve the intense itching caused by the rash.
The young woman emphasized the importance of following a strict routine of rest and self-care, as chikungunya can leave joint consequences for weeks.
Lianet's testimony reflects the healthcare situation in Cuba, where in recent months there has been an increase in cases of mosquito-borne diseases, exacerbated by shortages of insecticides, medications, and deficiencies in the public health system.
His account has generated empathy among followers and raised awareness about the need for greater prevention and fumigation in the communities.
