The Cuban artistic community received news on Tuesday that has profoundly impacted colleagues, friends, and audiences with the announcement of the death, at the age of 65, of actor Luis Alberto Ramírez, one of the most recognizable faces on national television and a successor of an acting tradition that has influenced several generations.

The page Cuba Actores summarized the impact of his work and his human warmth: “Today, Cuban acting bids farewell to one of its most beloved faces. Actor Luis Alberto Ramírez has passed away, a figure dearly close to the audience and an essential part of our country's television memory.”

The comedian Luis Silva, the popular Pánfilo from Vivir del cuento, deeply lamented the loss: “I am at a loss for words… We had him in several episodes. Rest in peace, my friend.”

The actor Erdwin Fernández Collado wrote one of the most emotional farewells, reminiscing about the friendship that united them since childhood:

"We've known each other since we were kids, back when we used to run around the ICRT. An excellent actor and a wonderful person, very polite and a great friend... He never stopped supporting me. I truly hope this isn't true and that he at least shows up to give me a little nudge. Damn, that's not how you do it. Rest in peace, my brother."

From CubaActores they also highlighted his dedication and the impact he leaves on the community: “Today we celebrate his discipline and the affection he cultivated among colleagues and audiences. Thank you for so much, Luis Alberto.”

The renowned Cuban set, costume, and lighting designer Luis Lacosta expressed his sorrow: "Sad and poignant news. A great colleague and friend has passed away."

The filmmaker Carlos Collazo sent his condolences to family and friends, while Kapy Kapy, visibly moved, wrote: “What the hell… this is life. We have lost a man full of life, who opened the door to so many new talents and never stopped supporting. Goodbye, my friend.”

The actor Jorge "Yoyi" Martínez also had words for Ramírez: "You never held back a word of praise for your fellow professionals, I don’t know why death always preys on the good," he wrote on Facebook.

From La Casa de Maka, the family consisting of María Karla Rivero, Jean Michel Fernández, and Coralita Veloz also remembered him with sorrow:

"Today, it's time to say goodbye to my friend, and it hurts. I will hold on to his laughter, his kindness, and the moments we shared. We will always remember you here."

An actor shaped by discipline and family legacy

Luis Alberto Ramírez followed in his father's footsteps, who passed away in 1990, in a large family of seven siblings where art was always present. From him, he inherited not only the name but also a work ethic in which he did not underestimate any role, avoided typecasting, and earned the respect of the audience on his own merit.

In an interview given to CubaActores in March 2024, he recalled how his father prepared him for a tough profession, one filled with sacrifices but also with rewards. He shared that when they worked together on a film, his father made it clear: “In front of the cameras, we were two actors; outside of them, we were father and son again.” That lesson stayed with him throughout his life.

His career was marked by projects that are part of the emotional memory of millions of Cubans: The Hidden Side of the Moon, Longed-for Encounter, Operation Courage, Memories of a Grandfather —where he suffered a premature explosion that left shrapnel in his legs for 20 days—, and The Chosen One of Time. His presence also left a mark on children's programs such as The Yellow Umbrella and The Path of the Minstrels.

One of his recent works was the telenovela Viceversa, broadcast last year by Cubavisión, where he played the role of Rolando and shared scenes with actress Nancy González.

Her daughter, assistant director in the television series Calendario and a student at FAMCA, continues the family's audiovisual journey, a legacy that now carries even greater emotional weight.
