Rosmery García Ramírez, a 17-year-old Cuban teenager, is facing a tough battle for her life and is pleading for help to receive a kidney transplant outside of Cuba.

The young girl was born with an anorectal malformation and, after surgery at ten months old, suffered nerve damage in her bladder that led to chronic kidney failure. Since then, she has undergone 19 surgeries and has been dependent on hemodialysis for more than two years.

Although her father and brother are willing to donate a kidney, the lack of supplies and resources in the Cuban healthcare system has made it impossible to carry out the transplant on the island.

"My reality is clear: in order to continue living, I must leave Cuba," the young woman wrote in a message shared on social media, where she explains that she needs to travel to Brazil to access the surgery that could save her life.

Family and friends have created a campaign on the platform GoFundMe, which has currently raised just over $1,300 of the $15,000 needed to cover the treatment and travel expenses.

"Your support is not just a donation; it is the opportunity to fulfill my dreams, to continue fighting, and to turn my story into a testament of hope," Rosmery expresses.

The young Cuban dreams of studying, starting a family, and creating a foundation to help other children with similar conditions. Those interested in supporting her can contribute through GoFundMe, or via the Cuban national card number 9205-9598-7790-2883.

"Thank you for not leaving me alone in this fight," concludes the young woman, holding on to faith and the hope for a new opportunity at life.
