The intense rainfall recorded since early Saturday morning caused severe flooding in the city of Morón, in the province of Ciego de Ávila, leaving streets submerged and significantly worsening local traffic conditions.
Images published by the local media Ciego de Avila Información on Facebook show the flooded streets.
According to the Cuban Meteorological Institute (INSMET), the event is linked to the advance of a new cold front that approached from the northern coast since Wednesday and could remain active, accompanied by northeast winds and a significant drop in temperatures.
It is expected that the rains will cease this weekend, but they would have left significant accumulations in areas of the northern coastline, particularly in Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus, and Villa Clara.
