Cuba could experience a notable change in weather conditions by the end of this week, with the arrival of a new cold front that will approach the northern coast of the western part of the island and the Yucatán Peninsula during the night of Thursday, November 27.

According to the specialized website Tiempo a su Favor on Facebook, although it is still not completely determined if the front will penetrate Cuban territory, a slight decrease in temperatures is expected, particularly in the highs for Friday and Saturday.

The forecast by meteorologist MSc. Álvaro Pérez Senra indicates that the cold front could bring cooler maximum temperatures, increased cloudiness, a rise in rainfall in some areas of the country, and unstable conditions typical of the passage of frontal systems.

Pérez Senra announced that this Wednesday he will provide more specific details about the expected behavior of rainfall and temperatures for the weekend, according to recent models.

The Meteorological Institute also forecasts unstable days

The Cuban Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) also confirmed that the coming days will be characterized by increased instability, with rain in several regions of the country, linked to the approach of a cold front as well as to the moist flow from the northeast that will establish itself after its passage. The agency noted that the rainfall could be more frequent in areas of the west and center, without ruling out isolated events of moderate intensity.

This combination of atmospheric factors will lead to increased cloudiness, a cooler environment, and typical conditions for the transition to the winter period. According to their models, rain could continue into the weekend, accompanied by moderate winds and a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures.

First winter pulses

With November moving into its final week, this frontal system would be part of the first winter pulses beginning to affect the Caribbean and western Cuba during this time of year, when mild drops in temperature and localized rainfall episodes are common.
