The Cuban exile community in the United States mobilized in support of Yisel Miguel Sarduy, a mother seeking to reunite with her husband Deivy Alemán Oropesa, forced to self-deport, before her daughter's fourth heart surgery.

In less than 24 hours, the petition launched on Change.org by Cuban Yisel Miguel Sarduy reached almost two thousand signatures, largely driven by the Cuban exile community in the United States.

The mother shared her message on Facebook, where she expressed her gratitude for the support received: "A thousand thanks, in 24 hours already more than 1000 signatures. We have no way to thank you. We only need the signature and for you to share… a thousand thanks."

Sarduy explained on the platform that his daughter, who has already undergone three heart surgeries, will undergo a fourth procedure next year.

However, her husband, Deivy Alemán Oropesa, was forced to self-deport for immigration reasons, leaving the family separated during a critical time.

"My husband and I have been the primary caregivers for our daughter. Now that she is facing a new surgery, we need to be together as a family," the mother wrote in the description of her request.

The petition, titled “Allow my husband to be with me and our daughter during her surgery”, appeals to the compassion of U.S. authorities and requests that Oropesa be permitted to return legally to the country to support his family.

The mother insists that her request is not about seeking privileges, but a demonstration of humanity: “My daughter needs her father. Her emotional strength depends on having us together.”

As the campaign continues to gain support, the case of this couple has become a symbol of the solidarity of the Cuban exile community and the families living amid hope, love, and harsh immigration policies.
