From emerging teacher in Cuba to sales leader in Miami

Osciel was born in Havana and showed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. “By the age of eight, I was already reselling marbles and raising pigeons to sell,” he recalls with laughter. “I have always liked business; I enjoyed earning my own money.”

During his youth, he was part of the Emerging Teacher program in Cuba, an initiative created due to the shortage of teachers in schools. However, he soon realized that his aspirations extended beyond that. “I was a teacher for three years, but I knew I wouldn’t thrive there. I have always been an ambitious person with high goals, and in Cuba, you can’t dream big,” he explains.

In 2011, he decided to migrate alone to the United States. He worked in all kinds of jobs: cleaning, construction, cooking, packaging vegetables, and even on farms. "I didn't have my first car until two years after I arrived," he recalls.

But the turning point in his story came in 2012, when a friend spoke to him about the car business. “From day one, I felt that this was my calling. I had that ease of connecting with people, explaining, and advising without pressure,” he recalls. His performance allowed him to stand out at his first Honda dealership, where he remained until 2016.

Reinventing oneself without losing values

After leaving the dealership, Osciel tried his luck with other businesses and ventures, but the pandemic forced him to reconsider his path. It was then that a friend convinced him to return to the automotive world, this time with a completely different vision.

“I'm back, but with a promise: to do things differently than before. Many sellers damage their reputation by not telling the truth. I don't sell deception; I sell trust,” he asserts with conviction.

For the past eight months, he has been part of the Braman Miami team, where he has excelled as one of the top salespeople for the Hyundai and Genesis brands, even reaching the number one spot in sales for several months.
