The Cuban actor Alberto Pujol l lamented the death of José Luis El Chino Jo, a historic cameraman of Cuban television.
“The saddest news is the departure of our cameraman El Chino Ho. He was a great friend! A brother! An artist with unmatched work capacity! El Chino Ho meant everything to many. He brought joy to many filming sessions, and in my particular case, if I had to define him, it would be as the one who filmed almost all my work alongside Eddy Quintero. His departure truly leaves an infinite void,” lamented the actor on Facebook.
"El Chino Ho is heritage, an icon, and an absolute testament to the history of television. We will never forget you, Man! Brother! Artist! Rest in peace, but you will always be with us through your legacy and professionalism! Wherever you are, I send you a heartfelt hug; I feel this deeply," Pujol added.
The news was echoed or commented on by other actors and individuals close to the outlet, such as Rafael Lahera or Lilo Villaplana.
"Very sad news about the death of this artist of image and television composition. I got to know him when I started working in television in Cuba, always bringing the good and teaching the tricks of the trade," said the broadcaster Omar Moynelo.
José Luis Jo was a cameraman for Cuban television who worked on the filming of the popular crime series from the nineties Día y Noche and Su propia guerra, starring Pujol. Both dramas also featured performances by César Évora, Jorge Villazón, Coralia Veloz, Nancy González, and others.
In July, the director of Cuban Television, Abel Ponce, known on the Island for the two popular crime series.
Ponce received the National Television Award in 2006 for a lifetime of work, as well as 14 Caracol awards from the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, along with an honorable mention at the Japan Television Festival for his educational program Nuestros hijos.
