Sister Nadieska Almeida: "The revolution says it leaves no one behind, but neglect is greater than ever."

"I know that our day is near, and that certainty drives me to get up every morning, pushing me not to give up in my cry, in my attempt to dream that freedom and justice will come."

The Superior of the Daughters of Charity in Cuba, Sor Nadieska Almeida, published a message on Facebook that has quickly spread due to the strength and clarity of her words.

In a country where open criticism of power continues to be punished, he articulated a profound reflection on the violence, fear, insecurity, and human degradation experienced by Cuban society, directly pointing to the political system as responsible for plunging the people "into the greatest of miseries."

The text, titled "TAKE CARE," stems from a common expression that for the religious figure has taken on a much deeper meaning amidst a social environment marked by an increase in aggression, moral fracture, distrust, and a constant feeling of helplessness.

Almeida explains that, although she appreciates that gesture she hears so often, she cannot help but ask herself, "What should I be protected from? From whom or from what?" This reflection leads her to unpack the reality of a country where the population lives under increasing emotional and economic insecurity.

The Cuban nun points out that behind this stifling atmosphere there is an evident cause: "the harm we have suffered for decades due to the totalitarian system imposed on us," a destructive and failed model responsible for having "hammered and trampled" the dreams and expressions of entire generations.

Sister Nadieska speaks out against the power apparatus that has controlled Cuba for more than six decades, and has kept the population "deceived, subjugated, suffering, and dying, literally".

She insists on the need to put an end to the fear that paralyzes many citizens, and stands alongside those who have the courage to protest.

"To take care of ourselves, yes, from continuing to be complicit in divisions among us, especially concerning those who dare to dissent and express themselves despite the risks and fears," he said.

The religious sister also warns about the indifference that is permeating a weary society, where personal suffering drains the energy that was once dedicated to helping others.

"Let us be wary of those who continue proclaiming that the revolution leaves no one behind, when reality tells us that there has never been a time of greater neglect," he emphasized.

Furthermore, remember that the spiritual and moral crisis of the country cannot be attributed to a supposed forgetfulness of God, but rather to the collective decision to replace Christian faith with communism.

"It was us who forgot about Him and chose a loud and ruinous ideology that has destroyed us, placing us in the greatest of miseries, without God and indoctrinated," he emphasized.

But their message, while deeply critical, does not give up on hope.

Despite the exhaustion, helplessness, and discouragement she feels, Sister Nadieska is confident that "our day is near," a conviction that – she asserts – drives her every morning to continue speaking out, denouncing, and raising her voice for those who can no longer do so.

"Taking care of ourselves and realizing that all of this will pass when we collectively decide to put an end to it," he said.

Finally, it calls to rebuild the values that still remain, to take care of one another among Cubans, and to show the new generations that a different country is still possible.

"Our island, so battered, can once again become a place to live and enjoy its natural beauty and the greatest of its riches, its children," she assured.

With a message that combines clarity, denunciation, and faith, the Daughter of Charity once again highlights what those in power try to silence: that the Cuban reality is unsustainable, that the accumulated pain can no longer be concealed, and that the citizens—including members of the Church—are losing their fear of pointing out the true culprit behind the moral and social collapse affecting the nation.
