A Cuban woman has sparked an intense debate on social media after posting a video on TikTok in which she claims that a woman “sacrifices her dignity” when she decides to propose marriage to a man.

In the video shared on the account @liz110622, the young woman claims that many women are encouraged to take that step thinking that it will help them retain their partner or that "if they don't, he will never commit."

However, he insists that this thought is misguided because "if a man wants to get married, he will make it happen himself."

“That man is not waiting for you to propose marriage to him; that man does not want to marry you,” said the Cuban in her video, which has already garnered thousands of views and mixed comments.

The TikToker insisted that when a woman takes the initiative to propose marriage, it only shows that he "is the most important" person in her life, to the point of being willing to "sacrifice her dignity" to avoid losing him.

"That man is going to say yes at the moment out of shame, to avoid embarrassment, but that marriage will never bear fruit," he stated.

According to her reflection, "if a man wants something serious with you, he shows it in the first year," while "the one who makes you feel confused or is indifferent doesn't want anything serious."

The words of the Cuban woman have sparked a wave of reactions on social media. Some users agreed with her traditional view on the role of men in a relationship, while others defended women's right to take the initiative and break gender stereotypes.
