Amid the everyday challenges facing Cuba, a Cuban has chosen to bring a touch of joy and hope to his home with a beautiful Christmas decoration that has captured the attention of social media.
User @omarito.ferrer shared a video on TikTok showing how he is gradually transforming his home in Cuba to celebrate Christmas.
The images show the facade adorned with lights and a wreath on the door, while inside, a grand Christmas tree stands out, filled with colorful ornaments, twinkling lights, and golden and red details.
The video, accompanied by the text “Little by little, this is how the house in Cuba is coming together,” reflects the effort and hope of many Cubans who, despite their hardships, strive to keep the Christmas tradition alive.
In the living room, there is a television displaying an animation of a lit fireplace and a snowman, along with a modern kitchen decorated with Santa Claus figures and Christmas messages in English, such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
The short clip has garnered thousands of views and comments from users celebrating the young Cuban's dedication. "Your house is looking beautiful," "That's how it's done, even if it's just a little, we celebrate," and "Christmas in Cuba is also felt" are some of the most frequently repeated messages.
Although Christmas festivities in Cuba were restricted by the regime for decades, since the 1990s, more families have been encouraged to celebrate with lights, trees, and decorations as a symbol of hope and joy in difficult times.
