Forces from the Ministry of the Interior seized several 20-liter containers of oil during a search conducted at a residence in the La Villa neighborhood, in the Los Coquitos area, in the city of Camagüey, as reported on Facebook by the page "Heroes in Blue in Cuba," associated with the communist regime.

According to the publication, the operation was carried out as part of a “joint action” between specialized forces and the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), aimed at combating the diversion of state resources.

During the registration process, other containers and accessories were also seized that, according to information, would be used for the illegal extraction and commercialization of fuel.

The official report indicates that the investigation targeted the alleged involvement of individuals in the systematic diversion of fuel intended for the provincial railway sector, although no details were provided regarding arrests, ongoing criminal proceedings, or the exact volume of fuel seized.

According to the post, the PNR reiterated its "commitment to the protection of national heritage" and warned about the legal consequences of participating in the reception and illegal trade of state resources, while calling for citizen collaboration to report these activities.

These types of operations occur amid a severe energy crisis in Cuba, characterized by prolonged blackouts and fuel shortages, a context that has increased both the informal market and the repressive actions of the State against citizens accused of diversion, often linked to daily survival.

On-duty manager and security guard involved in fuel theft at CUPET company in Matanzas

On December 15, it was reported that a shift supervisor and a security agent from the Fuel Marketing Company of Matanzas were caught in the act after stealing 25 liters of gasoline, according to a source connected to the Ministry of the Interior (Minint).

The Facebook profile “Con Todos La Victoria” reported that, during a shift in the early morning hours, two workers from the UEB Fuel Marketing of Matanzas, Terminal 320, were caught after they had siphoned gasoline from one of the CUPET tanks and had it stored in plastic bags.

The source identified those involved as Marcial Rudelay Cancino Ochoterena and Ernesto Mesa Méndez.

The publication described the act as "completely shameful" and argued that the mission of both was precisely to protect the resources assigned for the economy and the well-being of the population. It also pointed out that the workers will have to answer for their actions before the law.

The news has generated divided opinions among the followers of the profile. Many condemned the actions of the workers, attributing it to a lack of principles and the growing loss of moral values in Cuban society, while also supporting the imposition of harsh sanctions against those who steal state property.

However, many people justified the incident as a direct consequence of the fuel crisis in the country, arguing that if the state paid its employees wages that allowed them to meet their basic needs, incidents like this would not happen.

Others questioned whether the inflexibility is solely against workers who commit crimes, while the police do not act with the same firmness in the face of corruption and theft by state enterprise leaders and high-ranking authorities.
