A large alligator was removed on Friday by agents from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) after being spotted wandering through the front yard of a home in the Westchester neighborhood of Miami-Dade County.

Armando Rodríguez, a Cuban resident of the area, told the channel Local 10 that his son spotted the reptile through the security cameras and described it as “really big!”

Immediately, Rodríguez called 911 to report the incident.

The FWC agents arrived at the scene and, after several attempts, were able to control the animal.

The alligator was secured with tape around its snout—forming a U shape to prevent bites—before being removed from the neighborhood.

According to the authorities, the Westchester area has several interconnected channels and bodies of water, which facilitates the movement of alligators into residential areas, especially during hot or rainy seasons.

The incident did not leave anyone injured, although the neighbors claimed to have had a great scare seeing the enormous reptile so close to their homes.
