A fight involving at least two men at the Miami International Airport (MIA) sparked a chaotic scene in front of gates 16 and 17 on the lower level of the terminal, as captured in a video shared on social media.

The altercation, which took place on the night of this Monday for reasons that are still unknown, did not disrupt airport operations, but it caused shock among witnesses and left at least one person injured.

The recording was shared and went viral from the popular Instagram account Only in Dade, which usually documents unusual or striking situations in Miami-Dade County.

In the images, at least two men can be seen struggling in front of a car while several passersby watch or attempt to intervene.

The scene, which descended into chaos, took place just a few meters from the passenger pickup area, creating a situation of confusion among those arriving or leaving the airport.

The audiovisual material spread rapidly, sparking debates about security at one of the busiest airport facilities in the United States.

The authorities' version

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) -as reported by local press- the events occurred around 9:16 p.m. on Monday, when airport district officers received a call reporting a fight on the lower level, specifically near gates 16 and 17.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers encountered an adult man who stated that he had been involved in a "physical altercation with an unknown person."

According to the preliminary report from the MDSO, the other individual involved in the fight fled the scene before the officers could identify him.

The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, refused to be treated by the Miami-Dade Fire Department's emergency services, although authorities confirmed that she had an unspecified injury.

"The other individual fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the alleged victim refused assistance from the Miami-Dade Fire Department," the official statement detailed.

Despite the violent nature of the confrontation and its proximity to a high passenger traffic area, the Sheriff's Office indicated that there were no impacts on the operation of the airport.

The operations at the MIA continued normally during and after the incident.

No arrests were reported, nor was there any indication of an active search for a suspect in connection with the incident.

As of the closing of this report, there is no additional information about what happened.
