A family in Ciego de Ávila assisted a man with intellectual disabilities who was wandering disoriented through the provinces of the country.

The activist Yunior Tamayo Barrios posted on Facebook this Monday videos showing the man at his home in Gaspar and the assistance he and his wife provided so he could continue on his way. The man identified himself as Adán and unexpectedly arrived at the home asking for something to eat.

Tamayo, who has a charitable project in Ciego de Ávila, and his partner offered food and provided money and various articles of clothing, mainly coats for the low temperatures of these days.

“Gentlemen, the people of Camagüey say that the person is from Camagüey. If anyone knows him, I have him right now in my house, so I can hold him and take him to the police so that his family can come to collect him, as he seems disoriented. I have already given him food, money, and clothes because he says he is cold,” he explained. “These are clothes that people give me to donate, and look here, I’m giving them to him.”

Right there, Adán put on a woolen scarf and a jacket, with the help of Tamayo's wife. He packed the rest of his clothing into one of the bags he carries with him, along with his few belongings, including a Bible that he showed during the direct.

At times during the conversation with Tamayo, he appeared agitated when the activist asked him or mentioned if he was lost; however, most of the time he smiled and seemed grateful for the assistance.

According to the limited information the activist was able to obtain from the gentleman, due to his evident difficulties in speaking fluently, he apparently lives in or is heading to Camagüey. However, in the video description, Tamayo stated that he is from Songo La Maya in Santiago de Cuba.

He asked anyone who knows him to inform his family so they can come and pick him up. He also requested his followers to share the videos and if they see him in the areas where they live, to help him reach his destination.

“To all my followers, wherever you see him, please help him (...) He is lost (...) I hope he reaches his destination,” he wrote in one of the posts.

In the comments, several internet users claimed that the man is not lost and that he often travels across Cuba.

Many praised the generosity and altruism of Tamayo and his wife toward the gentleman and other vulnerable individuals whom they help voluntarily and selflessly.
