The UN expressed its "deep alarm" regarding the "recent escalation in Venezuela," following what it described as a "military action by the United States" carried out in Venezuela.

He warned that this could have "worrying implications for the region," according to a statement from the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric.

In the statement, the Secretary-General asserted that, “regardless of the situation in Venezuela,” the events “set a dangerous precedent” and emphasized “the importance of full respect, by all, for international law, including the United Nations Charter.”

The statement also emphasized the Secretary-General's concern about a possible violation of international norms: “He is deeply troubled that international law standards have not been respected,” added the text released on behalf of his spokesperson.

As an immediate call, the UN urged “all actors in Venezuela” to engage in “an inclusive dialogue,” with “full respect for human rights and the rule of law.”

The statement did not provide additional details about the mentioned military operation—beyond situating it within the context of an "escalation" and noting that it occurred "today"—but focused its message on the regional risk, the precedent it could create, and the necessity of adhering to international law and political dialogue mechanisms that respect human rights.
