The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo ordered the release of “dozens of political prisoners” in Nicaragua this Saturday.

The release is motivated by "the commemoration of our 19th anniversary," as stated in the official note.

They also assure that the released individuals "returned to their homes and families" after being "in the custody of the relevant authorities."

Some Nicaraguan media unofficially report that up to 30 have been released.

According to the Nicaraguan media La Prensa, among those released are Jessica Palacios, Armando Bermúdez, Olga María Lara Rojas, Mauricio Alonso, Mario Rodríguez Serrano, Pedro López, María José Rojas, Óscar Velásquez, and the evangelical pastor, Ruddy Palacios.

Also released was the former mayor of Santa María de Pantasma, Óscar Gadea, a member of the Citizens for Freedom party (CxL), who had been in a state of forced disappearance since last May.

The announcement comes amid American pressure on the regimes in the region following the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

“In Nicaragua, more than 60 people remain unjustly detained or missing, including pastors, religious workers, the sick, and the elderly,” tweeted the United States Embassy in Managua yesterday.

"Peace is only possible with freedom," he added after quoting Trump.
