Gp Fernández, son of the renowned Cuban salsa artist Paulo Fernández Gallo (Paulo FG), publicly denounced an act of vandalism committed against the artist's tomb in the Pantheon of the Ministry of Culture at the Colón Necropolis on Sunday, January 11, the very date on which the musician would have celebrated his birthday.
Through a post on Facebook, the family expressed their outrage over what they described as a painful and deeply disrespectful desecration of the memory of one of the most iconic figures in Cuban music.
"It is a very hard blow to acknowledge the lack of respect and the complete absence of human values in those who committed this act. The images speak for themselves," wrote his son.
In the message, he condemned that the site where the singer's remains rest was vandalized, and that unknown individuals removed the image of the artist and caused visible damage to the tombstone.
"In the Pantheon of the Ministry of Culture, they have desecrated the resting place of an icon of Cuban music," he emphasized.
The family denounced the lack of minimum security guarantees in a space that houses the remains of important figures of national culture. "It is unacceptable that a figure like him does not have the minimum security guaranteed in the cemetery," stated Gp Fernández.

The artist's son emphasized that this act not only represents a physical assault on a grave but also an offense to Cuban culture and to the memory of an artist who was deeply loved by his people.
In his message, he demanded that the authorities conduct "an immediate investigation" and expressed his hope that those responsible would face legal consequences.
"Despite all the difficulties we face, I believed there was still a bit of humanity left, but we see that there are no limits to evil," he wrote.
He also addressed a message to the singer's followers, urging them not to remain silent and to join in the public denunciation.
"Let us keep their legacy alive with dignity and demand the respect they deserve. Press Play on justice," they concluded.
The act of vandalism occurs less than a year after the large and emotional funeral of Paulo FG, who passed away in a tragic car accident.
The artist was laid to rest in the Colón Necropolis, in the Pantheon of Culture, alongside other legendary figures of Cuban music such as Adalberto Álvarez and José Luis Cortés, El Tosco.
During his burial, dozens of images shared on social media displayed the affection of a community deeply moved by the loss.
Followers, colleagues, and family accompanied the coffin amidst applause, tears, and songs that defined generations. During the funeral procession, décimas and iconic songs such as "La especulación de La Habana" were heard.
Before the funeral, the musician received a final farewell at the funeral home on Calzada and K, where dozens of people gathered to pay their respects. His casket was guarded by family and friends, surrounded by wreaths sent by high-ranking figures in the Cuban political sphere.
Born on January 11, 1962, Paulo Fernández Gallo has established himself as one of the most influential artists in popular dance music in Cuba.
His career included time with groups such as Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, Opus 13, and Dan Den, until he founded his own band, La Élite, in 1992. His charisma and versatility made him a key figure in the genre, with hits that still resonate in the country’s musical landscape today.
The desecration of his grave has caused an outpouring of indignation among followers and members of the artistic community, who view this act not only as a disrespect to a beloved artist but also as a wound to the cultural memory of the nation.
