The surprising capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces has sparked a wave of analysis regarding what truly happened within the core of Chavista power.
In an interview given to Noticias Caracol, Rodil stated outright that "the Rodríguez brothers handed Nicolás Maduro over," driven by a political ambition that led them to calculate that the president's time was coming to an end. "They saw an opportunity when they realized that Maduro's days were numbered and thought they could take control of the government," he asserted.
The former investigator explained that, specifically, Delcy Rodríguez would have been leading contacts with the United States, believing that she could remain in power after Maduro's departure.
“She negotiated thinking that President Trump was inviting her to a party, but she ended up being invited to a funeral,” Rodil stated, in one of the harshest remarks of the interview. According to his analysis, Delcy never considered that Washington did not recognize the legitimacy of Maduro and, therefore, neither did they recognize hers.
Rodil was even more graphic in describing the current role of the Chavista leader: “Today her mission is not to govern, but to hand over the remains of the cartel. She is the director of the funeral home,” he said, referring to the gradual dismantling of the so-called Cartel of the Suns.
Regarding the real influence of the Rodríguez brothers within Chavismo, the former official stated that their danger has been underestimated for years. "They are more criminal than Maduro, but they have been more cunning. They have survived longer without formal accusations," he asserted, noting that Delcy Rodríguez is facing open investigations in the United States related to corruption, drug trafficking, and connections to organizations considered terrorist.

In the interview with Noticias Caracol, Rodil also warned that the situation of the Rodríguez family could worsen if they do not meet Washington's demands. “She knows that if she does not do what is being asked of her, she could face a future worse than that of Maduro,” he concluded.
The statements of the former investigator provide an explosive narrative about the fall of chavismo from within, at a time when Venezuela is facing an uncertain transition and the region is closely watching as key figures of the regime begin to be exposed. For Rodil, the message is clear: “Trump is not playing around, and when he says he will dismantle the cartel, he does.”
The story, as it warns, is just beginning to come to light.
