A Cuban resident in the United States sparked a buzz on social media by posting a video on TikTok in which she accuses the Dominican creator Destino Positivo of “discrediting Cubans” with his reality show El Rancho de Destino. The program, which has only been on air for 11 days, has been surrounded by controversies and conflicts between its contestants.
In her message, the woman asserts that the show “is filthy and worthless” and that “Cubans are only discrediting themselves” by participating. “This man has a grudge against Cubans because he is dragging their name through the mud,” the visibly upset user @sayli1990 expressed. She also warned that “all of those things are seen by the president and the governors,” implying that the program could harm the image of Cubans in the United States.
The criticism generated thousands of comments and an intense debate among users. Some agreed with the opinion and described the reality show as "gossip," while others defended Destino, asserting that he is not responsible for the participants' behavior. “Everyone behaves as they are,” wrote one user. “Destino just gives them a camera; they are the ones who expose themselves,” added another.
Far from ignoring the controversy, Destino responded directly from their Instagram account, where they posted the video of the Cuban along with the message: "Historic reality in Miami. Today we connected 100 thousand during prime time. Some suffering and I'm cashing in." Their response was seen as a way to downplay the criticism and celebrate the program's audience success.
The virtual confrontation reflects how El Rancho de Destino has become the trending topic within the Cuban community on social media, dividing opinions between those who see it as unfiltered entertainment and those who consider it a display of conflict and vulgarity. What is certain is that, amid controversies and record audiences, the reality show continues to gain followers and generate discussion.
