The Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado assured on Friday that she is ready to assume power in her country and that she will be "the first elected female president of Venezuela", in a message filled with determination and faith in the new political phase of the country following the capture of Nicolás Maduro.
“Once the right moment arrives, I will be the first elected female president of Venezuela,” Machado stated in an interview with Fox News, a day after her private meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, at the White House.
Machado expressed his conviction that Venezuela is on the brink of a profound transformation.
"We have a mandate from the Venezuelan people. There is a mission: to turn our country into a land of grace. And we will achieve it," he declared, referring to his commitment to lead a democratic transition that restores freedom and prosperity to the country.
During her subsequent intervention at The Heritage Foundation, the opposition leader emphasized that the process of change is irreversible and that Venezuela "will be the greatest ally that the United States has ever had in the region."
“Venezuela is at a historic moment. We are preparing with teams inside and outside the country to take on the government when our time comes. We will do so with the support of the Venezuelan people and our international allies,” he stated.
Machado, who received the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 for her fight for Venezuelan democracy, stated that she is determined to return to Caracas "as soon as possible."
"Of course, I insisted on my return, and I will do so soon. It is my duty to be with my people," he assured.
